How to get to Tui to start the Portuguese Way is very simple. We have a very good location and we are great communicated!

There are many of you who ask us how to get to Tui to start the Portuguese Way. Each one comes from a different place and in a different way so for your information we summarize the most appropriate way depending on your place of origin!

You have to keep in mind that some schedules can be modified, so don´t trust us 100% and ensure the information in the links and contact!

If you come from Madrid, Barcelona or cities that communicate with the capital!

The best option is to travel by train to Guillarei, a train station that is about 4 kilometers from our hostel. Once you arrive, the best option is to take a taxi because walking is going to touch you a lot!

From Vigo airport 

The option is to take a bus to the center of Vigo and from there to Tui.

VIGO AIRPORT Bus: Airport- Plaza Eugenio Fadrique in Vigo. Price €1.35 / From Monday to Saturday every 30 minutes. / Sundays and holidays every 60 minutes in the morning and every 30 minutes in the afternoon.

If you want to go directly to the Urzaiz train station, from the airport you can take the urban bus to the “Urzaiz 13” stop with lines L8, L16 or L24.

👉 If you want to go to the Bus Station, the lines are L4C and L23. This is the one you should take if you want to take the bus from Vigo Station to Tui! ((in the next paragraph, you have the schedules 🕜).

⚠️ TIP As you can see, you lose some time, so if you want to get directly from Vigo Airport to your room at Ideas Peregrinas, think about the option of a taxi, it costs about 30 euros.

You arrive by Santiago!

IMPORTANT!! If you want to take a train from Santiago, remember that it takes you to Vigo, to the Guixar and Urzaiz Train Station. Price €9.55-€11.50 / Every hour

👉 The most direct is by BUS: 

SANTIAGO-PONTEVEDRA-TUI

Take a bus from the Santiago-Pontevedra-Tui bus station with MONBUS. Approximate price €5,55 and €4.45 respectively / Santiago-Pontevedra every hour all week and Pontevedra-Tui 12:00-7:00 p.m. per week (we recommend stopping at Plaza de Galicia, which is more central).

SANTIAGO-VIGO-TUI

Another option is to take a bus from Santiago station to Vigo and from there to Tui.

SANTIAGO-VALENÇA

Alsa has a direct service from the Santiago bus station to Valença do Minho, which is the Portuguese city with which we are Eurocity, it´s a 20-minute walk away.

Approximate price €30 / 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 06:00 p.m. If you buy the ticket on the web you must put the destination Valença do Minho. But ask the driver to stop you in Tui!

From Porto!

We have very good communication with the city and the airport.

ALSA: Bus: Porto- Valença do Minho Airport with ALSA. Approximate price €15 / 12:45 p.m., 1:10 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:10 p.m. all week.

The Autna company continues to provide service from Porto to Valença. More info: Autna

Train Porto-Campanha or Sao Bento- Valença by train Approximate price between €11 and €18.45/ various times throughout the day. You can consult them at www.cp.pt

Once in Valença, make your first section from Portugal and walk following the arrows on the path, following these tracks you arrive at the door of our hostel. If you arrive late or tiredness does not allow it, do not worry, we will send you a taxi!

A week before the road make sure the weather forecasts to further adapt the material. We like to take a picture of the material to visualize well what we will carry.

ESSENTIALS

  1. Backpack.
  2. Trekking sticks.
  3. Trekking footwear.
  4. Footwear to rest.
  5. A polar.
  6. A softshell jacket.
  7. Trekking pants.
  8. Resting pants.
  9. Technical t-shirt.
  10. T-shirt rest.
  11. Three pairs of hiking socks.
  12. Two molts.
  13. Hat or cap.
  14. Depending on the time.
  15. Soap.
  16. Toothbrush and paste.
  17. Microfiber towel Sunscreen.
  18. Paper tissues or toilet paper.
  19. Ear plugs Clothespins and safety pins.
  20. Mobile phone.
  21. Documentation. Pilgrim’s ID, Passport or DNI, Health Card or equivalent, Cash and Credit or debit card. Multipurpose knife (with scissor and tweezers).

ANOTHER MATERIAL NECESSARY TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT

  • A guide of the road.
  • A mini kit. Although the hostels usually have (strips, gauze, tape, aspirin or paracetamol) and you will find pharmacies.
  • A cloth bag (to go shopping).
  • A canteen or hydration bag. Reflective. An external battery for the mobile.
  • Photo camera.
  • A small headlamp

IF RAINS

  • A poncho and backpack covers.

IF YOU GO TO PUBLIC HOSTELS

  • Sleeping bag, as light and compact as possible. Essential in public hostels.
  • A pillowcase for hygienic reasons.
